Hi I’m Virginia and I teach private piano lessons to adults and kids 4+. Since 1996 so, I have lots of experience making things fun and engaging! I’m located conveniently at Randall Rd & Rt 20. I give a free trial lesson.
Some of my focuses this month are an even heavier “pop” focus than usual. I have always encouraged students to play their favorite songs, but I’m leaning into this even more and have students reading lead sheets, and students that usually don’t sing in lessons, singing for the first time which is wonderful!
I moved into a new unit within my building. It is a professional, commercial building with lots of parking. My new unit has a large wait area for parents and siblings with comfortable couches, bean bags etc., as well as an adjoining piano room where the piano lesson takes place.
A new thing that I started doing.. rather than leaving the piano room door open, I now close the door and have a baby monitor set up so parents can watch the lesson if they choose to. The volume is turned down, so students can have a sense of privacy, especially for the next student that may be walking into the studio.
I think that the older kids appreciate having the door closed to the wait area.
My new unit in this building also has a lot more windows! So it has been wonderful this time of year to have open windows as much as possible.
